Base metals are still used for a variety of purposes, however, current military needs require carbon nanotubes, self-repairing materials and heavy weapons that can be borne by a single soldier.  Master craftsmen, such as the [[Sons of Ivaldi]] have at their disposal [[Hyperforges]] that can twist an object's mass out of realspace and into the [[Ginnungagap]], or hyperspace. This process, Hyperforging, leaves behind an object of little weight and vast inertia, able to pierce, pound or penetrate with far more effect than their mundane counterparts.
