Also known as Hyperspace, the Ginnungagap is a void where only energy can long dwell. It is pierced by the branches of YGGDRASIL, explored mentally by volvas and other mystics, and most importantly, it is sailed by great starships of the Asgardr and the other major races of the Nine Worlds.

Hyperdrives surround a ship with a bubble of energy, galdra, andpunch a hole in realspace with it. The ship is carried along with the galdra until it reaches its destination. Shutting down the hyperdrive cancels the galdra and the ship is translated back to realspace.

These translations can be very disorienting. Some experience sickness, or visions, or even go mad with exposure to the galdra. Very few reports of this severity have been logged, however. The visions often feature animals or man-like “demons of the Ginnungagap,” variously called Galdrings or Galdr, but they are certainly the product of weak minds.
